Bio
Brandon Mooney is a percussionist, educator, and music arranger based in Montgomery, Alabama. He has taught, arranged, and performed throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe, and currently serves as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Percussion at Huntingdon College.
From the concert stage to the football field, Mooney is active in both concert and marching percussion, with a particular passion for solo snare drum and marimba performance. He has performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) on multiple occasions as a member of the award-winning University of Texas and University of Alabama Percussion Ensembles. In 2020, he won the Percussive Arts Society Individual Competition in the Solo Snare Drum (26+) division. As a freelance musician, Mooney has performed with Orchestra London Canada, the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and regularly performs throughout Alabama.
Mooney has been active at every level of the marching arts, including local marching bands, Winter Guard International (WGI), Bands of America (BOA), Drum Corps Europe (DCE), and, Drum Corps International (DCI). He marched drum corps for several seasons, concluding his member experience in 2010 with the World Class finalist Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and later joined the instructional staff at the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps from 2017-2019. Mooney was a graduate teaching assistant to the drumline of the Million Dollar Band at the University of Alabama from 2020-2022. As an arranger, he has written marching percussion music for the University of Texas, the University of Alabama, Western University, Huntingdon College, MDC Drumline of Salzburg, Austria, Blue Diamonds Drum and Bugle Corps of Germany, and numerous high school programs throughout Southern Ontario and Alabama.
